Aha! I did it! I've completed my gym homework! It's been lurking in my mind ever since Thursday, and though I kept waiting for it, the thought of "I feel like working out" never came. So, I waited until the last hour to do it and submitted my proof of completion 27 minutes before it was due on Sunday at 11:59pm.

Why, Caroline, did you need to do your gym workout at 11pm on a Sunday night?
'Tis a good question. Technically, I'm allowed to skip 3 workouts for my PE class this semester, so I wouldn't have been penalized or anything for not doing it. But I just felt the need to do it because I'd already planned on it... and a girl can only push her "do gym hw!!" reminder back so many times on her Google Calendar.
Also, exercise is good for you! Plus, my PE teacher spent the time to create the workout plan, so doing it would be an appreciation of her time. So I thought, alright, if I start the workout now, I'm definitely going to finish before 12am and then I can stop worrying about it!
It's a nice way to trick yourself into completing a task—forcing yourself to start, and then letting your body (or mind) shift into auto-drive. Either the task will feel a lot less daunting than it seemed from the outside (those jumping lunges weren't that bad), or you'll be so happy you had started that the momentum will keep you going (one more round, let's go!!).
Do I feel better after my workout? Physically, perhaps. Maybe I'll feel looser tomorrow. Probably will feel better than if I hadn't done it. But mentally, yes, a lot better. For those last 27 minutes of the day, I didn't have to keep worrying about the assignment I had imagined to be so hard. No more imagining the squat-induced quad soreness. Because I already finishedddddd woohooooo!
